Kensington SD5000T Thunderbolt™ 3 Docking Station Drives User Productivity to New Levels

Now Generally Available, the New Docking Station Leverages Thunderbolt 3 Technology to Deliver More Power and Bandwidth, and Greater Access to Peripherals for a Seamless Computing Experience

Kensington®, a worldwide leader of desktop computing and mobility solutions for IT, business and home office professionals and The Professionals’ Choice, announced today the general availability of its SD5000T Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station (SKU# K38239US; SRP $349.99). The new Kensington SD5000T Thunderbolt™ 3 Docking Station for macOS takes advantage of the latest technology to bring more bandwidth, greater access to computing accessories, and more power on the desk to maximize user productivity. To learn more about Thunderbolt 3 and its application to business, read Kensington’s new white paper, Thunderbolt 3 for Your Business.

As computer devices continue to become slimmer and mechanically lighter for mobile use, there are increasingly less input/output (i/o) ports available to provide connectivity when users need to perform tasks requiring greater computing power and more accessories to enhance their productivity. The game changing SD5000T Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station provides a bridge allowing more mobile and thinner devices access to a suite of gadgets on the user’s desk. It accommodates a single cable carrying up to 40Gbps of data in one compact port that supports dual 4K video and a complete array of desktop accessories connected at 8 times the speed of USB 3.0, while also providing up to 85W of laptop power delivery to macOS systems.

Whether a video editor, graphic designer, content creator or just someone who wants to simplify a 4K workspace, users will get more — more speed, more pixels, more power, and more possibilities. The 4K monitors can be connected with DisplayPort or passive adapters that connect with HDMI or DVI. The two Thunderbolt 3 ports are compact while delivering the fastest, most versatile connection to a wide range of displays and data devices in the market. And with Zero Footprint Mounting, users can mount the dock to the back of a 75mm or 100mm VESA-compatible external monitor (mounting plate sold separately), reducing desktop clutter.

“Thunderbolt 3 technology delivers the apex of desktop performance with 40Gbps of data transfer, ideal for those who want to drive their productivity to new levels,” said Louie Yao, Senior Global Product Manager, Kensington. “The new SD5000T dock not only enables users to optimize the lightning speed and superior performance of Thunderbolt 3, but with a single connection to all of their desktop accessories the dock delivers a seamless computing experience.”

“Thunderbolt 3 offers an exceptional level of connectivity, bringing extraordinary speed and versatility to desktop productivity devices, such as docking stations,” said Jason Ziller, Thunderbolt Marketing Director, Intel. “Products that have implemented this technology, like Kensington’s new SD5000T Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station, are designed to give professionals cutting-edge performance and access to everything on the desktop, for unparalleled productivity.”
