Kensington Secures Three New ClickSafe® Lock Patents

New Patents Extend Kensington’s Leadership in Innovative and Effective Physical Security Solutions for Mobile Devices

Kensington Computer Products Group, the worldwide leader in delivering smart safe simple physical security products for the mobile professional, today announced that three new patents have been awarded to protect Kensington’s innovative ClickSafe technology. Kensington’s ClickSafe technology is now backed by six patents, reflecting Kensington’s long history as an innovator and its pioneering role in advancing physical security standards for mobile technologies.

Kensington was recently awarded three new patents central to the technology behind the trusted ClickSafe technology family of products. This patented technology has spawned the strongest, easiest-to-use, and most reliable lock available on the market. Kensington’s new patents include:

US Patents #8,001,812;  #8,042,366 and #7,997,106 each address different elements of the locking technology – from mechanical workings of the lock head, to the incredibly small ClickSafe Security Anchor™, to how the lock head and anchor interact, providing the easiest to use full strength locking engagement for laptops and other mobile devices.

The consequences of mobile device theft extend far beyond the equipment replacement cost, presenting a significant burden to organizations when information such as email, documents and business contacts are lost and companies are forced to publicly disclose that they have mislaid customer data.  The first and most effective way to protect a company against data theft is by using a physical security device such as a laptop cable lock.

“These patents reinforce Kensington’s leadership in physical security devices,” said Brian Baltezore Senior Global Product Manager at Kensington.  “As always, Kensington will continue to expand our product line to offer the most reliable physical security options as mobile technologies continue to evolve.”
