Proximo™ Key Fob Bluetooth® Tracker named one of best personal accessories of year

Kensington, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple.™ mobile accessories, today announced that it has been named an Industrial Designers Society of America 2014 International Design Excellence Awards Bronze winner in the Personal Accessories category for its Proximo Key Fob Bluetooth Tracker. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a pre-eminent panel of diverse international experts across various industries.

“We are honored to have Proximo recognized as one of the best personal accessories in the 2014 International Design Excellence Awards,” said Adam Weaver, Industrial Design Lead at Kensington. “For more than 30 years, we’ve focused on making intuitive, design savvy technology products and accessories for today’s modern user.”

The prestigious International Design Excellence Awards are sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the world’s oldest and largest member-driven society for industrial design. IDSA represents professionals in product design, interaction design, human factors, ergonomics, design research, design management, universal design and related design fields. Products chosen as an International Design Excellence Awards finalist reflect innovative design and engineering. Examples may include the first time various technologies are combined in a single product or dramatic enhancements to previous product designs.

Kensington’s Proximo is a customizable and smart wireless tracking system designed to help people safeguard important items, such as keys, phones, cameras, laptops and handbags. It’s comprised of a smartphone Proximo App, Proximo Fob and up to four Proximo Tags. It uses wireless Bluetooth technology to notify users when the pre-set distance range has been exceeded. It was designed by Megan Paskin, Gerald Gutierrez and Adam Weaver, IDSA of Kensington.

The winning products from the 2014 International Design Excellence Awards are featured online at http://idsa.org/idea-2014-personal-accessories, which lists each product name, manufacturer information, designer, description, photo and URL.
