Greg Avera, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Recognized for Innovation in Product Design and Channel Strategy

Kensington Computer Products Group, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple.™ computing accessories, announced that Greg Avera, Vice President, Worldwide Sales was selected by UBM Channel’s CRN as a 2012 Channel Chief.  The annual Channel Chief list recognizes industry leaders who display innovation, influence and commitment in channel partner programs and are a trusted resource to the vendor community.

In 2011, Avera successfully expanded Kensington’s channel infrastructure to support Kensington’s initiatives for innovative security solutions for mobile devices. While Kensington has long been a leader in providing physical security for laptops, users are adopting smartphones and tablets for many computing tasks. As the reliance on mobile devices for business purposes continues to grow, providing physical security solutions that protect smartphones and tablets is a new focus for the company. Last year Kensington launched new products including BungeeAir (for iPhones) and SecureBack (for the iPad 2), which ensure the physical protection of a new generation of mobile devices. Kensington and Avera remain dedicated to evolving physical security technology as new trends in IT emerge.

Avera is a veteran in the tech industry and has deep knowledge about the channel with over 16 years of experience. Prior to joining Kensington, Avera held executive and sales management positions at ViewSonic and D-link. Since joining Kensington in 2009, Avera’s channel expertise has helped him to define creative strategies to uphold Kensington’s position as a leader and pioneer in offering the most comprehensive physical security solutions in the IT industry

For the tenth consecutive year, Channel Chiefs were selected by the CRN editorial team based on channel experience, program innovations, channel-driven revenue and public support for theimportance of IT channel sales.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a CRN Channel Chief,” said Avera, “Kensington is at the forefront of design and development of tablet security and productivity peripherals, and our products continue to be essential as a first line of defense for all users, particularly those in sensitive markets including education and healthcare.”

“The 2012 Channel Chiefs list recognizes vendor executives dedicated to driving channel programs in the IT marketplace,” said Kelley Damore, VP, Editorial Director, UBM Channel.   “Our annual Channel Chiefs issue is a must-read for IT solution providers evaluating new vendors or looking to expand solution offerings. These are the people, the products and the programs that any savvy solution provider needs to know. We congratulate this year’s Channel Chiefs for their stellar record of business innovation and applaud them for their continued dedication to the partner community.”
