Step 1 First, download the Firmware Upgrade Tool to your computer.

Step 2 Locate the downloaded content (typically found within your “Downloads” folder), right-click it, and unzip the folder to your “Desktop” for easy access.

|
Step 3 Connect the external power supply to your SD4800P docking station.
|
|
|
Step 4 Connect the supplied USB-C host cable to the docking station.
|
|
|
Step 5 Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to an available USB-C port on your Surface device.
|
|
|
Step 6 Open the folder labeled “Kensington_SD4800P_Upgrade_v1.0.0.6” from your desktop and double-click the application file labeled “SD4800P_Upgrade”.
|
|
|
Step 7 If prompted with the Windows Defender SmartScreen pop up, click “More Info” and then “Run anyway”.
|
|
|
Step 8 With the application open, the “Dock FW Version” should be listed. If it is not listed, please check that the dock is powered on and connected to your device. Note: It can take a minute or so for the firmware version to be listed.

Step 9 Once the firmware version is listed, click the “Upgrade Now” button within the application. Note: Update times vary. Please ensure power stays connected to the dock, and do not unplug the USB-C cable until the firmware update has finished.

|
Step 10 Once the firmware upgrade finishes, a “Success” prompt will appear. Click “Ok” to close the prompt.

|
|
Step 11 Remove power from the docking station.
|
|
|
Step 12 Connect power back to the docking station and check within the firmware upgrade tool to confirm that the latest version is present.
|
|
|
Step 13 With the latest firmware installed, please test your device to see if video or power issues are resolved. If issues persist, please contact our Tech Support team.
