Kensington Announces Charge & Sync Cabinet to Power Up to 10 iPads; Additional New Products Customized for Enterprise, SMB Point of Sale

  • November 27, 2012

Robust Offering of smart. safe. simple.™ Accessories Improves Functionality of iPads Deployed for Single Use/Multi User Customer Interaction

Kensington Computer Products Group, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple.™ computing accessories, today announced five new products engineered to support the explosive growth and use of tablet computers for the enterprise, SMB and education market. The smartly designed products include the Charge and Sync Cabinet for simultaneous charge and sync for up to 10 iPads. Also announced, is a suite of point of sale combo stands and enclosures featuring trademark SecureBack™ technology.

SecureBack™ PRO is designed specifically for single purpose enterprise environments such as interactive environments for an increased customer experience. SecureBack™ VESA is ideal for kiosk use and utilizes both 75mm and 100mm VESA mounting holes for a universal fit on any VESA equipped stand or mount. In addition to the enclosures, Kensington is introducing the SecureBack(TM) POS Stand and Enclosure for iPad®, the ultimate 360 degree pivot stand incorporating SecureBack VESA and a ClickSafe® lock – providing the most elegant, customer friendly and secure stand and enclosure on the market.  To complete the solution, Kensington is introducing the ClickSafe® Point 2 Point Keyed Lock, providing an effective locking solution for both the stand and the enclosure.

“Kensington recognizes the growing demand and new usage pattern for tablet computers, particularly the iPad – one where the device is used by many people, but for one main task,” said Rob Humphrey, Director Security Products, Global Business Kensington.  “We refer to this as a Single Use/Multi User environment. While thousands of iOS applications have been created to serve this market, very little has been offered on the ‘hardware’ side, so we are particularly excited about these new products because we believe that they will greatly benefit point of sale opportunities, enhance the user experience and improve security policies.”

Recent research indicates a substantial move by the enterprise, SMB and education sector to increased and more frequent use of tablet computers. According to a May 2012 study[1] by market strategy specialist iGR, more than half of small and midsize businesses in the United States have employees using a tablet computer and of the more than 400 businesses surveyed, 52 percent currently use a tablet like an Apple iPad or Google Android-powered device to help run their business. Also, a joint April 2012 report[2] by McKinsey and the GSMA predict the m-Education market could be worth $70 billion globally by 2020 and predicts demand for m-education devices, like smartphones and tablets, may be worth another $32 billion by the same timeframe.

Mobile device management is an essential part of any business deployment of five or more iPads. Regardless of the size of a company or organization -- hundreds of employees, a chain of restaurants or university setting -- the Kensington products provide sturdy, quality construction, built in safeguards and easy deployment for increased efficiency and security during customer or end-user interaction.
