Kensington Computer Products Group, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple.™ computing accessories for the mobile consumer, today announced that it has been named an Industrial Designers Society of America 2012 International Design Excellence Awards finalist for its AbsolutePower Laptop, Phone, and Tablet Charger. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of diverse and international team of experts across industries. The jury selects the best of approximately 2,000 entries that will become finalists for IDEA honors.

“We are honored to be named a finalist for the 2012 International Design Excellence Awards,” said Ryan White, Industrial Design Manager and Lead Industrial Designer at Kensington. "For more than thirty years we’ve been in the business of making intuitive and design savvy companions for constantly evolving personal technology.”

The prestigious International Design Excellence Awards are sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the world’s oldest, largest, member-driven society for industrial design. IDSA represents professionals in product design, interaction design, human factors, ergonomics, design research, design management, universal design and related design fields. IDEA 2012 winners will be honored at a ceremony and gala following the conclusion of the annual IDSA International Conference in Boston, MA on August 18, 2012. They will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Fast Company.

Products chosen as an International Design Excellence Awards finalist reflect innovative design and engineering of the entries. Examples may include the first time various technologies are combined in a single product or dramatic enhancements to previous product designs.
