Kensington Computer Products Group, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple.™ computing accessories today announced that it has won a prestigous red dot award for its AbsolutePower™ Laptop, Phone, Tablet Charger. Companies from all over the world submitted more than 4,500 designs to be considered for the renowned product competition.

The Kensington AbsolutePower Laptop, Phone Tablet Charger is designed for convenience and nearly all mobile power needs. The industrial strength charger offers 100W of power and is compatible with top selling Windows-based laptops, smartphones like the iPhone, BlackBerry Torch, Sony Experia, and more, as well as the new iPad, iPad 2, BlackBerry Playbook and Samsung Galaxy tablets. It intelligently charges up to three devices at the same time and its light weight and small size make it easy to carry.

“Being recognized and given an award by the world famous red dot committee is a huge honor for our design team,” said Ryan White, Lead Industrial Design, Kensington. “For thirty years we have worked tirelessly to offer ingenious products to enhance the user experience all within a smart, safe, simple design that continuously evolves and grows to serve new and wider audiences.”

“The most distinguished products of the respective branches of industry faced not only tough competition again this year, but also to the critical eye of the jury,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot design award.  “The experts thoroughly examined, tested and evaluated each individual entry, applying the highest standards. With their performances, the laureates demonstrated an extraordinary design quality and they also showed that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions. At this high level, the winners are able to increase their potential for success on the market considerably by purposefully using our design prize.”

On July 2, 2012, the presentation of the internationally renowned quality seal will take place during the red dot gala. More than 1,000 international guests from the design world, industry, society and the media will gather that evening in the Aalto-Theatre opera house in Essen to celebrate and highlight this year’s competition. Afterwards, Kensington’s AbsolutePower Laptop, Phone and Tablet Charger will be on display during a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum.

Award-winning products in the red dot design museum

The red dot design award

The red dot design award, whose origins reach back to the 1950s, is carried out in three disciplines: the ‘red dot award: product design,’ ‘red dot award: communication design,’ and the ‘red dot award: design concept.’  In 2011 alone, more than 14,000 entries from over 70 countries were registered.
