Assembled in Germany, New Portfolio of Privacy Screen Filters for Laptops and Monitors Helps Protect Sensitive Data from Prying Eyes, Reduces Exposure to Harmful Blue Light

BURLINGAME, Calif. – August 26, 2025 – A recent study commissioned by Kensington®, a worldwide leader of desktop computing and mobility solutions for IT, business and home office professionals, found that in regard to data security in their organisations, nearly a quarter (23%) of the participants are concerned about visual hacking. The study, which was conducted by independent market research agency Vanson Bourne, surveyed 1,000 senior IT decision makers about their device security strategies and the impact of data theft on their organisations.

Visual hacking, which refers to the theft of sensitive or confidential information by observing screens, documents or devices without authorisation, is one of the most overlooked security vulnerabilities. Of the participants who cited security concerns about visual hacking, 48% have a flexible working policy, meaning they’re able to work in public locations, such as coffee shops or on public transport. Other respondents working in fully remote or hybrid environments reported a slightly lower level of concern (36% and 33%, respectively). Unlike high-tech data security solutions, such as VPNs, endpoint protection and encrypted drives, preventing attempts at visual hacking simply requires limiting the visibility of the content displayed on the screen through the use of a privacy screen.

Kensington’s new High Clarity and EQ Privacy Screen Filters for laptops and monitors limit the screen viewing angle to ±30º to protect sensitive information from prying eyes in the office, at home and everywhere in between. Assembled in the Germany, these privacy screen filters are designed to provide peace of mind and increase productivity for IT professionals, office workers, mobile professionals and consumers in shared households, multi-use environments and public venues.

Simple to install using frameless tab holders or double-sided tape, the new Kensington Privacy Screen Filters are scratch-resistant and military-grade tested to meet durability standards to ensure long-lasting protection. The privacy screens each incorporate an anti-reflective coating to minimise glare and feature a reversible design with a matte side for reduced fingerprints and a glossy side for optimal clarity.

High Clarity Privacy Screen Filters Provide Vibrant Visuals and Effective Privacy Protection

Kensington High Clarity Privacy Filters feature nanolouvre technology that outperforms standard privacy screens by allowing up to 78% of light through, resulting in vibrant colours and sharp text for detailed tasks. The filter reduces harmful blue light by up to 28% to ease eye strain and promote better sleep.

EQ Privacy Screen Filter Provides Data Protection and Uses Recycled Material that is Better for the Environment

In addition to providing a limited viewing angle of ±30º and filtering up to 52% of harmful blue light, the Kensington EQ Privacy Screen Filter is made with 34% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, offering a privacy solution that makes it a great solution for companies or consumers looking for a more sustainable alternative.

“The results of our study show that the threat of visual hacking is not just associated with working from home but is inherent in the various environments that today’s mobile professionals find themselves working in, which increasingly includes public locations and shared workspaces,” explained Rory Morgan, Marketing Director EMEA at Kensington. “Our new portfolio of privacy screen filters provides simple, affordable solutions that provide effective protection against unauthorised data exposure from ‘shoulder surfing,’ giving professionals peace of mind and maximising productivity when working in nearly any environment.”

Kensington High Clarity and EQ Privacy Screen Filters all carry two-year limited warranties available in late Q4 2025. To learn more about Kensington’s comprehensive portfolio of products and solutions for consumers and businesses, visit www.kensington.com.
