This trackball is an improvement over using a regular mouse. My wrist is not sore at the end of the day! Being able to customize the buttons is useful too, once you remember what you programmed each button to do. I left my regular mouse plugged in for a while (in addition to the trackball) so I could switch back when I had to do something quickly that I wasn't comfortable doing with the trackball just yet. I like the wrist rest - it snaps onto the base of the trackball unit so they stay connected. The scroll ring rotates a bit rough, but seems to be getting smoother as I use it more. It takes some getting used to, but overall, I'm glad I went to a trackball.

“The best trackball/mouse ever.”
I've been using the Kensington Expert Mouse since back when it connected to the computer over RS232 and only had two buttons. Then there was the USB version with the scroll wheel. Now it's got the scroll ring.
Seriously, the Expert Mouse is the absolute best pointing device ever made, and if Kensington discontinues it I'll stockpile a dozen of them.
I am not shilling.

“Fewer Features for a Pro Device”
The trackball itself works well, but the trackballworks software has been neutered and can do LESS than previous generations. Fewer buttons, commands, and keystroke combinations. I can do less with this mouse than I could 5 years ago with an older iteration.
